Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital is one of the longest established vet practices in Northern NSW. Dr Phil Knight started the practice in a small building on the Mullaley Road and soon moved to a cottage closer to town on Wandobah Road. The cottage was modified to suit and later a separate small animal operating theatre, stables and horse handling facilities were added.

A number of vets worked in association with Phil, until in 1977 Dr David Amos joined the practice. In 1986, Phil sold the practice to David and retired. In 2007 the practice moved to our current more central location at 14-16 Barber Street in Gunnedah. Dr. Trish Whillock joined the team in 2012, Dr. Chelsea Mitchell in 2017 and as of 2022 our team has steadily grown to consist of 17 staff members.

In 2022 David sold the practice and handed the reins over to Chelsea. David now enjoys working part-time as a Vet and spending his new found free time playing cricket, travelling and visiting family.

Both Chelsea and her husband Jamie, grew up in Gunnedah and are thrilled to provide a veterinary service to their local community and to continue the wonderful legacy of Gunnedah Veterinary Hospital.
